Soar Into Reading

The Twin City Thunderbirds are bringing the excitement of hockey and the joy of reading into classrooms across the Winston-Salem area.

As part of our commitment to supporting the local community, the Thunderbirds are proud to offer school visits designed to encourage reading, connect with young fans, and create memorable experiences for students. Through the Soar Into Reading program, Thunderbirds players will visit local classrooms to read with students, answer questions, and share the importance of teamwork, learning, and staying active.

This program is open to Kindergarten through Fifth Grade classes throughout the Winston-Salem area.

Player visits are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays after 12:00 p.m. Each visit may last up to one hour, including reading time and a brief question-and-answer session with students.

Schools or teachers interested in participating should complete the interest form on this page and include three preferred dates and times that would work best for your class or school. While we will do our best to accommodate requests, availability may be limited throughout the season.
