The Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena is the proud home of the Twin City Thunderbirds and one of the Triad’s most recognizable venues for hockey, family entertainment, community events, and live events.

Located on Deacon Boulevard as part of the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds complex, the arena provides an energetic, close-to-the-action atmosphere that makes Thunderbirds hockey one of the most exciting live sports experiences in the area. Originally built in 1989, the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena has a long history of professional hockey in the city. Over the years, the venue has served as home ice for several Winston-Salem hockey teams, including the Winston-Salem Thunderbirds, Winston-Salem Mammoths, Winston-Salem Icehawks, Winston-Salem T-Birds, Winston-Salem Polar Twins, and Twin City Cyclones. Today, that tradition continues with the Twin City Thunderbirds, who proudly carry forward the area’s hockey history while bringing a new generation of fans to the rink.
