The Carolina Thunderbirds are offering a variety of internship and volunteer positions for the 2025-2026 season, seeking college students and those wanting to gain experience. The positions listed below will detail the duties of the intern as well as the Thunderbirds staff member who should be contacted with a resume and cover letter. Applications for internships are currently open and the length and scope of internships will be adjusted according to the intern's needs. Thunderbird interns will have the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of operating a hockey team and our staff can adjust to the expectations or requirements of a school's internship program.
Broadcast PRODUCTION
The Carolina Thunderbirds are seeking interns to assist in media production work ahead of the 2025-2026 season. Interns will assist in game day broadcasts for all 28 home games, including camera and graphics work. Interns will also assist with various media and video projects during the season.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Live camera operation for home game days
- Editing of highlights
- Filming/editing for team media projects
- Graphic directing for live broadcasts
REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of sports broadcasting, hockey knowledge preferred but not required
Understanding of cameras, broadcast/streaming software, radio broadcast scheduling, graphics packages, editing software, and sequence editing.

Gameday operations
Game Operations Interns are required to attend all 28 home games. We are flexible when it comes game dates if any circumstances occur. Interns will assist in making game day run smoothly and help with fan engagement.
Internship duties will include:
- Planning and executing game operations strategies
- Coordinating game-day volunteers and ensuring the smooth flow of game scripts
- Development of game policies
- Fan engagement
