A native of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, Buttitta transitioned behind the bench following a standout playing career and three seasons as the team’s Player Assistant Coach. His experience in that hybrid role provided a strong foundation in systems implementation, game preparation, and player development, while also establishing him as a key voice connecting the coaching staff and locker room.

Buttitta spent six seasons with the Thunderbirds organization as a player, serving as team captain for four years and becoming one of the most accomplished players in franchise history. He ranks among the Top 5 all-time in goals (102), assists (201), points (303), and games played (308), reflecting both his production and long-term impact on the organization.

Over the course of his professional career, Buttitta appeared in 336 games across eight seasons in the Federal Prospects Hockey League, recording 126 goals and 227 assists for 353 points. Known for his consistency, hockey IQ, and leadership, he was a reliable presence in all situations and a respected figure throughout the league.

Prior to turning professional, Buttitta starred at Kent State University (ACHA Division I), where he totaled 271 points (121 goals, 150 assists) in 175 career games. His 271 points rank among the Top 10 in the history of ACHA Division I.

Buttitta’s approach is centered on establishing a strong team identity built through daily habits, accountability, and consistency. He emphasizes doing things the right way on and off the ice, with a focus on work ethic, attention to detail, and a high compete level as foundational expectations.

He prioritizes clear communication and strong relationships within the locker room, creating an environment where players are held accountable while also being supported in their development. His philosophy reinforces a structured, disciplined style of play while maintaining the culture and standards that have defined the Thunderbirds organization.

In his dual role, White supports game preparation, bench communication, and systems execution while continuing to compete as an active member of the Thunderbirds roster. His ability to balance playing responsibilities with coaching insight allows him to serve as an important bridge between the locker room and coaching staff.

Known for his work ethic, attention to detail, and team-first approach, White provides a consistent presence in the lineup and a strong voice within the room. His understanding of team structure and expectations plays a key role in reinforcing accountability and maintaining the Thunderbirds’ identity.
