Weekend Preview: Thunderbirds Host Unbeaten Showdown With Danville
Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Carolina Thunderbirds and Danville Dashers are set to fight for the top spot in the FHL standings this weekend as both teams have yet to taste defeat this season.
Carolina sports a perfect points percentage with four regulation wins and 12 points, meanwhile an overtime victory for Danville over the Elmira Enforcers in their season opener is the only blemish for the Dashers which sits them at 11 points.
Danville bring's the FHL's most potent offense into the weekend led by Ryan Marker who was six goals and seven assists for 13 points in just four games as a Dasher. The Thunderbirds are led in scoring by their captain Josh Pietrantonio, who has three goals and four assists for seven points on the young season.
Carolina and Danville played each other 18 times last season with the Thunderbirds winning 10 of those contests (one in overtime).
Other FHL games this weekend: Elmira travels to Port Huron for the Prowlers' first two home games of the season and the Mentor Ice Breakers have two chances at home to pick up their first win of the season against the Watertown Wolves.
