VP of Ticketing and Gameday Operations Kaitlyn Lusk departs Thunderbirds
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After four seasons as Vice President of Ticketing and Gameday Operations, Kaitlyn Lusk will be leaving the Carolina Thunderbirds for a position with the California Parks Department.
“After 4 years of hard work, I am returning to my home state of California, where I can continue my professional journey while being close to family,” said Lusk.
Lusk was with the Thunderbirds from day one, joining former general manager Scott Brand to lay the groundwork required of an expansion hockey team.
“Getting to know so many great Thunderbirds fans and making memories from 'Pucks and Paws' to Cancer Awareness Night is something I will take with me,” Lusk continued. “One of the greatest joys was rooting on our team as they won the 2019 Commissioner's Cup.”
Current GM Kelly Curl had the unique experience of working with Lusk both as a player and in the front office.
“Kaitlyn will be greatly missed,” said Curl. “Not only as a friend, but as a terrific employee who went above and beyond to ensure that fans got the one-of-a-kind experience they had come to expect from a Thunderbirds game.”
Lusk’s duties will be taken over by VP of Finance and Merchandise Shannon Campbell, as well as new hire Taylor Swaim. Campbell has run the team’s merchandise since 2018 and its finances since 2019. Swaim, a native of Greensboro, is currently finishing a Public Relations & Marketing degree at NC State University.
“Kaitlyn was a vital part of getting this team off the ground,” said owner Barry Soskin. “We will miss her a great deal, but wish her the very best moving forward.”
Lusk concluded her remarks, “The hardest part is saying goodbye to all of the friends I have made and the memories that came with them. WHATS THE WORD? - THUNDERBIRDS!!”
