Ahead of this weekend’s series against the North Shore Knights and Danville Dashers, two Carolina Thunderbirds are on the move. Firstly, forward Maxime Guyon, acquired in the Cornwall Nationals dispersal draft on Tuesday will head to the Roanoke RailYardDawgs in the Southern Professional Hockey League. Guyon, who is 2nd in the FHL in goal scoring this season, will sign a 3-game tryout contract with Roanoke.

In addition, Thunderbirds defenseman Alex Vazquez has been called up to the Brampton Beast of the East Coast Hockey League. Vazquez has played 19 games this season for Carolina and has 5 assists, 25 penalty minutes, and a -12 rating. Brampton is the “AA” level affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. Vazquez is the first Thunderbird of the season to be called up to the ECHL this season. 

What’s Coming Up

The Thunderbirds will skate at home on Friday and Saturday, February 23rd and 24th against the North Shore Knights. Friday’s game starts at 7:35 pm, with the doors opening at 6:35, and it’s “Kelly Curl Night”. Presented by Curl Enterprises, the first 600 fans in attendance will receive a special Thunderbirds mask, just like the one Kelly Curl wears. Saturday’s game will begin at 6:05 pm, with the doors opening at 5:05 pm and it’s “Pucks and Paws Night”. Presented by Oakes Animal Hospital, enjoy the game with your canine companion, with special seating for fans bringing their dogs! On Sunday the Thunderbirds will hit the road for one game against the Danville Dashers, it will be a 6pm EST puck drop, and you can hear all the action on the Thunderbirds Radio Network.
