THUNDERBIRDS TRAINING CAMP DATES ANNOUNCED, THREE MORE ADDED TO TRYOUT AGREEMENTS

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – In the wake of signing six players to Professional Tryout Agreements last week, the Thunderbirds announced the official schedule for the preseason training camp. Running from Wednesday October 18 to Saturday October 21 the camp will feature approximately forty players all seeking to earn a spot on the regular season roster.

Wednesday’s camp session will begin at 7:00 pm EST at the Winston-Salem Fairground Annex. The sessions Thursday and Friday will be held at 11:00 am EST, and Friday’s session will be followed up with an inter-squad scrimmage game starting at 7:00 pm EST. Saturday will feature a double header of inter-squad scrimmage games, with the first beginning at 11:00 am EST and the second being played at 7:00 pm EST. All practice sessions and games will be open to the public and will be free of charge.

The Thunderbirds have also signed three additional players to tryout agreements. The first player is another former Berlin River Driver. Artur Drindrozhik, the 24-year-old forward, hails from Belarus. Standing at 5’11” and 174 pounds, Drindrozhik played 41 games for Berlin in the 2016-2017 season and notched 19 goals, 25 assists, 10 penalty minutes, and was a plus 16.

The Thunderbirds have also signed Jakub Peslar. The 5’9”, 181-pound defenseman is from the Czech Republic. Peslar, age 25, played last season in the Polish Ice Hockey League where he scored one goal, had 11 assists, 26 penalty minutes, and was a minus 13 in 24 games played.

Finally, Carolina has also signed a local product, Chase Lewis, a forward born and raised in Winston-Salem. The 20-year-old stands at 5’9” and 148 pounds, and played for the Steele County Blades of the USPHL. In 42 games during the 2016-2017 season, Lewis had 15 goals, 27 assists, and 61 penalty minutes.

The Thunderbirds will be announcing more player signings during the coming weeks as more players are signed to PTO Agreements.

The Thunderbirds 2017-2018 regular season starts with opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 4.
