Thunderbirds Sweep Elmira in First Road Series of Year
Elmira, NY - The Carolina Thunderbirds took six points out of six from their first road weekend of the season against the Elmira Enforcers by winning on Saturday night by a score of 2-0.
Josh Pietrantonio scored his fifth goal of the season to open the scoring midway through the first period finding a loose puck in the slot and patiently navigating traffic to put it by Troy Passingham. That goal would stand up for a long time before Everett Thompson would bury an insurance goal top shelf on a half breakaway in the third period to give the game its final score.
Henry Dill secured his second shutout of the 2018-19 FHL season in the win with a 20-save performance. No other goalie in the FHL has a single shutout so far. Troy Passingham takes the loss for Elmira stopping 27 of 29 shots on Saturday.
The Thunderbirds now look ahead to a three game week against the FHL's other expansion team the Mentor Ice Breakers. Carolina travels to northeast Ohio on Wednesday while Thanksgiving day and Saturday's games will be played in the Fairgrounds Annex. Tickets are available at the Fairgrounds box office or online at TicketMaster.
