Thunderbirds Acquire Baker From Prowlers

Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds have made a trade with the Port Huron Prowlers acquiring defenseman Mike Baker for forward Artur Drindrozhik and the rights to forward Tom Kilgore.

Baker is a defenseman from Durand, Michigan who has appeared in all 26 games for Port Huron this season registering 11 points (1G-10A). His +/- rating is even and he has totaled 71 penalty minutes in 2018-19.

In total, Baker has 134 games of FHL experience (regular season and playoffs) and has 54 points and a +25 rating in that time frame.

Baker started his FHL career with the now-defunct St. Clair Shores Fighting Saints in 2016-17 before joining the Port Huron Prowlers during the same year. Prior to his playing days in the FHL, he played ACHA hockey at Oakland (MI) University and played juniors in Wisconsin in the Superior International Junior hockey League.

Heading to Port Huron from Carolina is Artur Drindrozhik and the rights to Tom Kilgore. Drindrozhik has appeared in nine games this season for Carolina registering two goals and two assists. Tom Kilgore has not appeared in a game for Carolina this season but played in 54 games last season for the Thunderbirds tallying 46 points (19G-27A). Kilgore had his rights retained by Carolina on their reserve/retired list this season.

Baker is expected to report to Carolina later this week and could be in action as soon as Friday night against the Danville Dashers.
