The 5 Best Carolina Thunderbirds Home Games This Season
With a slate of 32 home games on the 2018-19 schedule, this season for the Carolina Thunderbirds should be an exciting one. As the team gets itself ready to start the season, we decided to take a look at five games that should be circled on every fan's calendar.
Opening Night (October 26) vs. Port Huron presented by the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds
It's been a long offseason for the Thunderbirds and their fans so what better way to scratch that hockey itch than to come on out for game #1 against the Port Huron Prowlers on October 26 at 7:35 P.M. Carolina kicks off six straight home games to start the season against the 2016 Commissioner's Cup champions and 2018 Commissioner's cup finalists. The Prowlers will be led by Joe Pace Jr. who took over coaching duties after his father, Joe Pace Sr. left the team this offseason. It's also a giveaway night with the first 2,000 in attendance picking up a free rally towel powered by the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.
Veterans Night (November 10) vs. Danville presented by Pierce Jefferson and Majic 99.9
The Thunderbirds salute the service of all of our armed forces past, present and future with a military veteran appreciation night on Saturday, November 10. Veterans from every American service branch will be present as a part of our pregame ceremonies, and the Thunderbirds will be rocking special tribute jerseys for this game. The Danville Dashers are the opponent and the puck drops at 6:05 P.M. This game is available in every type of ticket package the Thunderbirds offer so get your tickets before they are gone!
New Year's Eve (December 31) vs. Danville
After the rousing success of last year's New Year's Eve event the Thunderbirds will again be hosting a New Year's Eve game at the Fairgrounds Annex this season. This game has a special puck drop time (8:35 P.M.) to facilitate a post-game skate that will take fans right up to midnight. Entertainment is currently being planned as part of the post-game countdown to 2019 along with the free public skate after the game against Danville. Come celebrate with us and ring in 2019 on the ice!
CitruSafe Racing Night (March 2) vs. Port Huron presented by CitruSafe and WTOB
As the weather warms up you can hear it in the southern air riding on the wind. Of course, we're talking about the roar of the racetrack and the Carolina Thunderbirds are going to bring that roar inside the Annex on March 2nd (6:05 P.M.) when we take on the Port Huron Prowlers. With the Winston-Salem area's rich tradition of racing at Bowman Gray Stadium the Thunderbirds want to bring the same energy from the races into a packed house in early March. Tickets for Citrusafe Racing Night can be purchased individually or they also come in the half and full season ticket packages available at 336.774.4625
Fan Appreciation Night (April 6) vs. Danville presented by WTOB
We would be nothing without our great fans and to show our love to them our season finale against the Danville Dashers (6:05 P.M.) will be honoring the Flock! Come on out to see the Thunderbirds play one final regular season game as they gear up for what we hope will be a highly successful playoff run deep into April. Giveaways and special promotions will be announced for this game at a later time. All ticket packages the Thunderbirds currently offer include tickets to Fan Appreciation Night.
Don't miss any of the action this season, single game tickets are available right now online or at the Fairgrounds Box Office and ticket packages are still available at 336.774.4625. We can't wait to see you at a Thunderbirds game this season!
