Season update, January 4, 2021

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Carolina Thunderbirds and the Federal Prospects Hockey League have announced that the beginning of 2021 regular season will be postponed into February.

Exact dates and a schedule have not been announced.

“We’re fighting daily to create a feasible plan to play hockey this season. Our fans have been patient through this process and we’re grateful for their continued support, but unfortunately there is just no new information to share with fans at this time,” said general manager Kelly Curl.

Because there has been no schedule released as of yet, there is no operating procedure to share with fans currently. Once games have been scheduled, the team will consult with city and state officials to implement a safe and effective operational standard for the team, its players, employees, and fans.

“This is such a constantly moving landscape, if you will,” continued Curl, “it’s affecting every city and state differently and we’re trying our best to deal with it comprehensively.”

As it pertains to ticketing for this season, no charges have been made on any season ticket holder’s card because the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds box office remains closed. The box office is operated by the city of Winston-Salem and Ticketmaster and not by the Carolina Thunderbirds.

Any questions regarding ticketing and operation of the box office should be e-mailed to Lee Shapiro, the box office manager (lees@wsfairgrounds.com)

Any further updates regarding the season, schedule or any other important news will be announced through the team’s website and on the official team social media accounts.
