Mahoney Traded To Ice Breakers; Return of Cicmanec

Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds today are announcing a trade sending forward Tommy Mahoney to the Mentor Ice Breakers for future considerations.

Mahoney played in 26 games for the Thunderbirds and registered 16 points (6G-10A) while in Winston-Salem. He also appeared in three games for the Watertown Wolves this season registering two assists.

In a corresponding move, Peter Cicmanec has been placed on the active roster.

"We were running into roster crunch situation again, and unfortunately this is what happens in pro hockey" head coach Andre Niec said. "Cheech (Cicmanec) coming back means we were over, and it's best to get something rather than let a guy go for free. We all wish Tommy the best of luck."

Cicmanec returns to the Thunderbirds lineup having played in 24 games this season. He scored six goals and tallied 11 assists so far this year.

Carolina travels to Mentor and Port Huron this weekend for three games in three days on the road.
