INTRODUCING THE “VOICE OF THE THUNDERBIRDS"

WINSTON-SALEM,NC - The Thunderbirds are proud to announce the hiring of Al Kessler as the team’s Vice President of Media Relations and Communications.

Kessler joins the team after most recently working for the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League during the 2015-2016 season. Previous to that, he interned for the Danbury Whalers of the Federal Hockey League. During that time, he was also a broadcasting intern for Stan “The Maven” Fischler working New York Islander games for the National Hockey League broadcasts on the Madison Square Garden Network.

Kessler would go on to work for the Berkshire Battalion of the FHL during the 2014-2015 season, and was a recipient of the “Broadcaster of the Year” award. Born in New York City and raised in Connecticut, the new “Voice of the Thunderbirds” voiced his excitement about the opportunity to join the FHL’s newest franchise.

“The FHL gave me the start to my career, so making the decision to make the move to the Thunderbirds organization was an easy one.” Kessler said of the opportunity, “I am most excited to bring the fans every minute of the action in conjunction with our broadcast partners at the Big 980 AM/96.3 FM.”

Team President Scott Brand added, “With Al being a veteran broadcaster, we believe he will be a great addition for our organization. He brings a wealth of knowledge, and I am sure will expand our brand.”
