Free Agent Camp 2020 information

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Carolina Thunderbirds, defending Commissioner's Cup champions and 2020 western division champions, are proud to announce the details of their 2020 free agent camp.

The team will host its 2020 free agent camp from Friday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds (414 Deacon Blvd. Winston-Salem, N.C.).

The camp will include five on-ice sessions across the three days. Players participating will need to bring their own equipment but camp jerseys will be provided.

The cost for all players is $175 to register.

For the first time, the Thunderbirds are also hosting a goaltender's clinic two days prior to the free agent camp. On Wednesday, Nov. 4 and Thursday, Nov. 5, goaltenders will skate in three goalie-only sessions. Six goaltenders from the clinic will be selected for the free agent camp.

Goalies will pay $175 for the goalie clinic. If a goalie is selected to advance to the free agent camp, there will be no additional cost.

Players and goalies are responsible for their own travel and hotel arrangements. The Carolina Thunderbirds hotel partner is the Best Western Plus on University Pkwy. in Winston-Salem. The team will aid in finding players to stay together in the same room to keep hotel costs low.

There will be a camp meal provided in the afternoon on Saturday. There are athlete-friendly eating options across the street from the hotel as well. Putter's Patio and Grill is the closest option for players from the hotel.

Last year, the Carolina Thunderbirds hosted seven players at their free agent camp that made FPHL final rosters.

The Thunderbirds will be accepting 12 players from free agent camp into main camp which is tentatively slated to begin the following week.

Both players and goalies can register for the free agent camp at this link.
