ACCHL Preview: Tournament Set For Its First Appearance in Winston-Salem

EDIT: A previous version of this story had NC State and Virginia listed incorrectly in their time slots for Friday's games, this has since been corrected below.

END EDIT

Winston-Salem, NC - The ACCHL Tournament is about a week away and the conference is slowly whittling itself down to its final eight teams to compete for the championship February 15-17 at the Fairgrounds Annex.

Each of the ACCHL's four divisions have been clinched with only wild card spots left to fight for. The four division winners will serve as the "home" team for the purpose of the first round of the tournament.

Friday's schedule starts at noon with four games being played back-to-back ending with a 9 P.M. puck drop. All four division winners have already been assigned to their time slots regardless of seed.

12:00 #3 Virginia (Central) v #8 TBA
3:00 #1 NC State (Carolina East) v #6 TBA
6:00 #4 Wake Forest (Carolina West) v #5 TBA
9:00 #2 Georgetown (Capitol) v #7 TBA

Once again the seeds may still change going into the final weekend of conference play but the teams and times so far announced will not.

As it stands right now only one team has clinched a wild card spot and that is George Washington out of the Capitol division. UNC-Charlotte (Carolina West), Virginia Tech (Central) and St. Joseph's (Capitol) hold down the other three wild card spots with James Madison (Central) and UNC (Carolina East) still holding onto hope for a tournament berth next weekend.

Tournament passes start at $20 and are available for purchase at the Fairgrounds Box Office or at wsfairgrounds.com

NOTE: 5 ACCHL teams currently hold spots in the ACHA's latest Southeast top 20 ranking. NC State (#8), Virginia (#10), St. Joseph's (#16), George Washington (#18) and Georgetown (#20)
