ACCHL Preview: The Tournament Arrives This Weekend

Winston-Salem, NC - With the ACHA's regular season in the rear view mirror it is now time to look ahead to postseason tournaments including the ACCHL championship hosted by Wake Forest club hockey and the Carolina Thunderbirds at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex.

The ACCHL tournament, now in it's 24th year, will host its annual postseason tournament in Winston-Salem for the first time ever. The last time the tournament was held in North Carolina was in 2012 in Hillsborough.

The 2019 edition of the tournament will feature top seed North Carolina State looking to keep their perfect 2018-19 campaign intact after defeating hosts Wake Forest 3-2 in their season finale last weekend at the Fairgrounds Annex. The hosts Wake Forest draw defending tournament champs UNC-Charlotte in the opening round of the tournament this year setting up a rematch of the 2018 final.

After Friday's action the tournament will re-seed with the lowest remaining seed playing the highest remaining seed. Based on which teams advance from the quarterfinals the schedule for who plays when will be announced on Friday night for semifinal action.

Tournament passes for all seven games are available for as low as $20 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Box Office and more information can be found at wsfairgrounds.com
