Thunderbirds Dropped 4-1 by the Wolves in Weekend Series Sweep

Watertown, NY – Thunderbirds dropped 4-1 by the Wolves in weekend series.

How It Happened

It would be the Thunderbirds who would strike first early on in the game when CJ Blaszka would steal the puck from a defender and send it knuckling past Wolves goalie Matt Kaludis to make it 1-0 Carolina.

From then on the Wolves would dominate the possession of play and the scoring. 7 minutes after the Blaszka goal it would be Tyler Gjurich scoring his 5th goal in 2 games as he scored on the break-away beating Nick Niedert in net for Carolina. In the final minute of the 1st it would be Corey Scott tapping home a rebound to put Watertown up 2-1 after 1.

The second period would be owned by the Wolves who dominated possession. 6 minutes in it would be Dallas Ingram blocking a shot and racing in on net would score on another breakaway to put Watertown up by 2.

With 1 second left John Scully would redirect a shot on the power play and score to put the Wolves up 4-1 for good.

Notable Stats

In an emergency goaltender role, Nick Niedert made 32 saves on 36 shots in the loss.

Stephen Gallo during the 2nd period was assessed a 2 minute instigator penalty, a 5 minute fighting major, and was ejected with a 10 minute game misconduct.
