Fejt Suspended Five Games; Team Appealing
Winston-Salem, NC - The Carolina Thunderbirds learned today of the league's decision to suspend Dominik Fejt for five games. The Thunderbirds are disappointed in the league with this decision and are filing an appeal on behalf of Fejt.
Fejt was suspended pending review for his actions during the game on Friday night against the Mentor Ice Breakers. Whatever penalty is handed down post-appeal, Fejt has already served one game of any suspension.
"We are extremely disappointed in the amount of games Dominik has initially been suspended" Thunderbirds President/GM Scott Brand said. "It is a gross over-punishment considering this league's precedents and what had happened on Friday night. We support some sort of suspension or penalty but five games is too much."
An appeal was sent in to the FHL within minutes of the suspension news being made public. The Thunderbirds will have the appeal hearing via conference call within the next 24 hours.
