FHL Formally Approves Expansion to Winston-Salem, NC

Syracuse, NY - The Federal Hockey League (FHL) has formally approved an expansion FHL Member Club to Winston-Salem, North Carolina that will begin play during the 2017-18 season.

The new Winston-Salem expansion membership will play its home games at the Annex at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem, a venue that was opened in 1989 and has a seating capacity of up to 3,500 fans for hockey.

"We welcome the Winston-Salem, North Carolina market to the increasingly strong partnership of owners, communities, and fans that make up the growing Federal Hockey League membership," said FHL Commissioner Don Kirnan.

The LJVM Coliseum Annex has hosted minor professional hockey organizations since opening in 1989, most recently the Twin City Cyclones in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) during the 2006-07 season.

A press conference has been schedule for Wednesday, September 7th at the Annex to announce the team's ownership, name and logo.
